Retreat Log Cabin at Marshview - Log Cabin Retreat
LOG CABIN RETREAT is
the original facility of the bed-and-breakfast home of Jim and Lynn
Elliott.
The cabin is perched on the hillside at the north end of Marshview.
Logs for the cabin in the spring of 2004 were still standing in an old “slow growth” forest of Douglas Fir trees of the British Columbia Cascade Mountains above Kamloops, B.C., Canada. The craftsmen of Mountain High manufacturer in Kamloops, headed by Doug and Mary McCulloch, created the cabin, then shipped it on two flatbed trucks to Marshview. <www.mountainhighloghomes.com>.
Over a period of 19 months during 2004-05 the Elliotts finished the cabin themselves, with the early cabin-raising assistance from family and friends. They began sharing bed-and-breakfast experiences with guests in March 2006.
Now it truly is something to behold and to enjoy!
Your modest guest bedroom is furnished with a Select Comfort™ queen
bed, an in-room claw-foot tub, and a small washroom with lavatory
and toilet. Across the hall for you is a bathroom with shower. You
are encouraged to enjoy the large first-floor area — with the great
room living area, fireplace, cable reception television (which has a
separate TV extension in the guest bedroom), plus dining area and
the Elliotts’ kitchen. A fascinating ceiling canoe with strategic
lights adorns the area over the dining table. Wild animal trophies
discreetly add outdoor ambience throughout the main room. West
windows provide extraordinary views of the Jamestown flat marsh and
lake below, and an exterior door leads to a length-of-the-cabin
elevated porch.
The Log Cabin has been the popular choice for couples’ retreats, honeymooners, vacationing tourists, hunters and fishermen, nature lovers, and many others.
